Photographer Woman Sitting at Desk Smiling at the Camera

Getting to Know the Person Behind the
Camera in 10 Questions

Welcome! I'm Katherine, a Connecticut and Cape Cod based wedding and portrait photographer.

Meet the storyteller behind the lens - I’m personally inviting you to explore a bit about me. Photography isn't just a craft for me; it's a lifelong journey of freezing moments in time. From golden hour glow to candid smiles, I often find myself noticing small moments that otherwise would go unnoticed. I found this idea from another photographer’s blog here and wanted to share more about me as well.

Whether you're a fellow photography enthusiast, a supporter or potential client - let's get started!

  1. What's your favorite way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon?

My Sunday afternoon’s are my sanctuary - I love to be snuggled up on my couch with my two cats: Minnie & Daisy watching either sports or reality TV.

  2. If you had a time machine, would you go to the past or the future? Why?
I would likely answer this question differently depending on the day, but today I’m feeling like the future to know that everything works out. I like to believe that everything happens for a reason.

  3. What's a skill or hobby you've always wanted to learn but haven't had the chance to yet?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar! I grew up singing in chorus and playing clarinet, flute, tenor saxophone and piano but now I just sing in my car these days.

  4. What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

Solo travelling - it’s scary and exhilarating all at the same time.

  5. Is there a particular place in the world that feels like home to you, even if you've never lived there?

This is probably implied in the locations I serve, but Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Connecticut Beaches have a special place in my heart. I really feel the most fulfilled when I’m near anything with water - I spend a good amount of time watching waves and feeling at peace…maybe because I’m a Scorpio water sign?

  6. What's a small, everyday moment that never fails to brighten your day?

I wake up each morning and look out my window. Watching nature reminds me that there is more than the daily hustle.

  7. If you could have a conversation with your younger self, what advice would you give?

Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t amazing or worth your hopes and dreams. I get too externally motivated (to this day) and wish that I could tell that little girl that there isn’t anything wrong with her.

  8. What's your favorite season, and why?

I am a hard core summer girl!! I always choose warmth over cold (I even told my mom after my first ski season at 6 years old that I didn’t want to continue ONLY because it was too cold, ha). Not only that, but it usually involves beaches, family and friends and being outside.

  9. Do you have any unique or quirky habits that people might find interesting?

Where do I start? I have more than I can count! Just spend about an hour with me and you’ll see. Some of the quirks are also what makes it great to be behind the camera helping others be more comfortable.

  10. Have you ever had a nickname? What was it?

Funny story - so depending on where we met and what point in life, there are a few to choose from. As I meet someone knew, I always say anything with a “K” sound - and really I appreciate each nickname being used everyday.
Growing up everyone has called me Katie - which is the name my mom had a bracelet made of before my dad had agreed to the name. I was named after one of my mom’s best friends from growing up. Then in college I wanted to try to be more mature (which is entirely laughable honestly) and people from that time frame call me Kate. Then there is the wedding/creative community - a lot of which I had met online before in person and they call me Katherine.
There have been lots of other ones over the years but the funniest nickname I have been given was by my friend, David, who dubbed me Katie Big D which has me laughing hysterically every time!
